Wiesbaden (dpa-AfX)-The Hessian State Court has rejected a lawsuit by the FDP parliamentary group against the federal government’s planned billion dollar investment package. The proposals of the liberals were directed against the announced approval of the members of the state government on the planned change of Basic Law in the Federal Council on Friday (March 21).
The highest Hessian court justified its decision in Wiesbaden with the lack of an authority to apply from the parliamentary group. A parliamentary group can only assert its own rights in a constitutional dispute process, but not the rights of the state parliament. The FDP factions in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bremen also failed with similar advances.
In the opinion of the FDP parliamentary group, the CDU, CSU and SPD in the federal government want to soften the debt brake via a change in the Basic Law – without the participation of the state parliaments. “From the point of view of the Free Democrats, this is a clear violation of the constitutional autonomy of the countries and against the federal order,” it said.
Federal Council on Friday on the train
The outgoing Bundestag had changed the Basic Law on Tuesday with a two-thirds majority and thus decided on the billion-dollar financial package for defense, infrastructure and climate protection. The Federal Council has to agree on Friday. A two -thirds majority is also needed here./löb/dp/mis
