Former Bayern defender Rafinha has to leave Coritiba FC in his Brazilian homeland. According to a report, the reason is the participation in a 39-year-old football tournament in Munich. His club only reported that Rafinha was no longer part of the squad, since both clubs had agreed on the dissolution of the contract valid by the end of 2025.
It was then at “Globo eSports“Reading. Rafinha took part in the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of the club or in the Beckenbauer Cup with numerous other club icons of the record champions.
According to the report, this was not agreed in the form with his club at home. Instead, Rafinha told the board last week that he was in charge of a hearing in Germany. He did not mention participation in the FC Bayern tournament. Rafinha has not opposed the demand for mutually acceptable termination. In a conversation with a transfer market, Rafinha had put in the room in the summer of 2023 to want to end his career “absolutely in Europe”, “preferably in Germany”.
Rafinha had made his breakthrough in professional football from 2002 at Coritiba and switched from there to FC Schalke 04 in 2005. The transfer fee of over 5 million euros paid by the royal blue was outbid at the 2010 S04 party with EUR 8 million, which was transferred to the Genoa CFC. FC Bayern paid another 5.5 million euros in 2011 and rely on Rafinha’s services for eight years. He is the most inserted Brazilian in the history of Munich. For Coritibia, he completed a cup game and nine missions in the paraná state championship this year. “I am here to redeem the promise that I gave when I left almost 20 years ago,” said the player at his presentation in December 2024. He should help the second division team to return to the upper house.
