According to Rijkswaterstaat there was about five kilometers of traffic jams on the A9 towards Alkmaar. The delay only ran through the tilted bus. The road was completely closed and traffic was diverted.
How the accident could have happened is not clear. Rijkswaterstaat removed the vehicle from the road, after which all lanes are opened again.
Velsertunnel also closed
The Velsertunnel in the direction of Beverwijk was also closed for some time this morning. That was due to an accident between two passenger cars. A recovery company was on site to drag the cars away. Then all lanes are open again.
Only on the A9 at the Velsen junction is still traffic jam. This is due to another accident, which means that the connecting road is currently closed from Amstelveen towards the Velsertunnel.
