Danny Peart, the brother of Neil Pearst, is dead. Danny Peart died of the same cancer as his brother. He died on Thursday (March 14, 2025). Around five years after his famous brother, who was drummer from Rush.
Danny Pearst suffered from a glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of a brain tumor. In the Facebook group Neil Peart drums and drumming was reported on Danny Peary’s death. Accordingly, however, Neils and Danny’s sister Nancy Peary Burkholder first shared the news in a contribution by the Facebook group “Peart Family Events”.
The relatives write: “On this cloudy Sunday, we share with great grief that we lost our astonishing pear characteristics after his one and a half year fight against the Glioblastoma (brain tumor).

He later moved to Vancouver, where he lived with his wife Janette Lindley and her two sons Max and Nick. Danny was considered an “an accomplished writer and poet” and member of the League of Canadian Poets. He published numerous collections during his lifetime, including “Stark Naked in A Laundromat” (2016) with a foreword by Neil Peart and “Another Mountain to Climb”.

What happened after Neil Peart’s death
The rush drummer died in January 2020 after suffering from a brain tumor for three and a half years. The following autumn, a memorial concert took place in Los Angeles.
Two years later, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee performed publicly as part of the tribute shows in Los Angeles and London for the late foo fighter drummer Taylor Hawkins. Otherwise they were no longer on stage.

When asked whether Rush becomes a band again
In a conversation with “Q104.3”, guitarist Alex Lifeson was asked whether he and bassist Geddy Lee had thought about filling the band with a new drummer.
Alex Lifeson said: “Oh, in any case.
He assessed her approach as follows: “You thought we would just replace someone with which we had played for 40 years and who had written all the texts for our music.
So, yes, we conducted the conversation because we cannot avoid it. ”

Rush’s farewell tour
Rush had their farewell touring tour in 2015 and played 35 headline shows throughout North America as part of its 35 headline shows. And ended a career over 40 years.
