Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovac also relies on the Champions League effect in the Bundesliga.
After the setback in the league against FC Augsburg (0: 1), Kovac is happy to be challenged against a stronger opponent at RB Leipzig on Saturday (6.30 p.m./Sky) at RB Leipzig. “This is a Champions League team,” said Kovac on Friday regardless of the current Leipzig crisis.
“They also have to perform. I hope that my team will take it as an additional motivation to tackle the game as we did in Lille.” On Wednesday, BVB made the quarter-final feed in the Champions League perfectly with the 2-1 at the OSC Lille, showing a performance that is convincing over long distances. “Everything that has awarded us – readiness to run, together – I want to see that now,” said Kovac.
In the league, both teams are clearly behind the expectations
Both teams are clearly behind their expectations in the Bundesliga. With 39 points from 25 games, Leipzig is only sixth in the table, Dortmund even only tenth (35). In contrast to the Saxons, which also disappointed in the Champions League, the Dortmund is at least in this competition.
“Leipzig is certainly not where you would like to be,” said Kovac. “But I think Leipzig is a very strong team. They didn’t play during the week. So the freshness is certainly there. We have to stretch very much.”
At times, the BVB share remains unchanged at EUR 3.14 via Xetra.
