Thanks to goal scorer Simon Scherder, Prussia Münster drove a surprising and somewhat happy away win at SV Elversberg – and thus gives a lot of air in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.
Scherder’s goal after a corner kick (70th minute of the game) was enough for the Prussia to 1-0 (0: 0) success on matchday 26. Due to the victory, the guests overtake at least temporarily Hertha BSC in the table and slide in 14th place. Three competitors in the relegation battle, including the Berliners, are still on Sunday.
The Elversberger, on the other hand, failed in the highly competitive race for the Bundesliga promotion. After six games without defeat, the SVE lost for the first time – and at home against relegation candidate Münster. Despite good opportunities and playful superiority, the Saarlanders were unable to overcome guest goalkeeper Johannes Schenk.
Elversberg’s Damar fails by Lufer
Muhammed Damar (17th) missed the best chance for the hosts when he put a lupfer from 15 meters just past the right post. Overall, the SVE had more of the game, but mandatory offensive campaigns failed to materialize over long distances.
Shortly after the break, Münsters Florian Pick scored the top edge of the latte from 20 meters (48th). Charalambos Macridis also failed on the aluminum (69th), Scherder made it better after a corner from a short distance.
The SVE put pressure again at the end of the game and showed its playful class in parts. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Elversberg’s defender Florian Le Joncour got the chance again, but set his degree at the level of the penalty point. Schenk held the zero, Münster was allowed to cheer.
