Jerdy Schouten has unsubscribed for the upcoming Nations League matches of the Dutch national team against Spain. The 28-year-old midfielder is struggling with knee complaints, which he sustained last game. As a result, Schouten also misses the match with RKC Waalwijk on Saturday evening.
“Fortunately it is not something that will keep me aside for months, but unfortunately it is not possible to be on the field in the coming games,” says Schouten. “I am very disappointed that I cannot be there against RKC and subsequently not with the Orange.”
For the time being, no replacement is being called, so that the selection now consists of 23 players.
Oranje will find Spain in De Kuip on Thursday for the first game of the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League. The return is three days later in Valencia, Spain.
