“If you look at the entire campaign, we as a Club Brugge can be very proud of. It is disappointing to end in this way,” responded Hans Vanaken to the club website afterwards.
“Seen over both games, we were at least as strong and sometimes even stronger,” Vanaken continued. “We leave the Champions League with a lifted head. This hurts for a while, but we can be proud of. You naturally want the highest attainable as a football player and so the elimination is a pity, but this was a wonderful campaign.”
