Katarzyna Niewiadoma is involved in a heavy crash during a bike race in Italy. Then she reports back to social media with a post.

The Polish cyclist Katarzyna “Kasia” Niewiadoma reported to her fans after her serious accident at the Strade Bianche with a personal message – and attracted attention with a photo of her injuries. In addition to a snapshot from the race, the 30-year-old showed herself on her hotel bed, her right leg is littered with bruises and scratches, also on her arms and face, she carried away injuries.

Despite the painful injuries, she kept her humor. “I am disappointed to have missed the podium! But it could always be worse, so I’m grateful for what I have – in this case pretty strong bones,” she wrote in her post.

From her followers on Instagram, she received a lot of encouragement: “I hope you are recovering super quickly”, “I’m glad you are okay”, “Outch! Take enough time for healing” and her fans wrote more about the post.

The Strade Bianche is a traditional one -day race in Tuscany in Italy. Niewiadoma fell around 50 kilometers before the finish in a departure last Saturday. She lost control, slipped away and crashed into a guardrail.

Last year’s Tour-de-France-Femme winner had to give up the race and, together with her teammate Agnieszka, had Skalniak-Sojka treated by a doctor.

Incidentally, the race won the Dutchman Demi Volling in front of her compatriot Anna van der Breggen. For eleven years, the Strade Bianche has also been held in women.
