In the relay of Nové Město, the German women did without Franziska Preuss. But it was enough for a podium.
The German biathlon relay of the women can look forward to the next success. At the World Cup in Nové Město, the DSV women won third place even without top runner Franziska Preuss. The quartet from Johanna Puff, Julian Tannheimer, Sophia Schneider and Selina Grotian had to load with a total of eight, but only defeated the dominant French and Norway without a penalty round. The DSV quartet was 47.6 seconds behind.
Persecution world champion Preuß, as already discussed at the World Cup in the previous month, had left the Czech Republic. The 30-year-old was spared with a view of the last two World Cups and the fight for the overall World Cup.
In a total of five relay races, the Germans also won two victories in Hochfilzen and Ruhpolding, but there were also seven and eight ranks. At the World Cup in Switzerland, it was only enough for fifth place after a criminal round of Schneider.
The good shooter Puff only needed one after the loader, but had to let the competition go on the track. Tannheimer started the race as a ninth with 38.4 seconds. The 19-year-old made a strong race with an extra-patron and pushed himself up in third place.
Unlike at the highlight of the season, Schneider also kept his nerves despite four releases and so Grotian went into the trail with a lead over the pursuers from Switzerland and Austria. And the 20-year-old, also in the two individual races in Nové Město, brought the podium to finish.
