Even if you do not necessarily guess it, you may be cheated in many different ways at WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is also popular with cheaters. Ville Järveläinen

Security company Bitdefender warn from many different ways in which cyber criminals use WhatsApp to make their scams.

Some of the listed scams are already familiar to Finns, but there are a little less well -known ways.

1. Friends and Family Drugs

The scammer makes the victim’s child or a close friend and asks for money claiming to be in some form of emergency. The “Hello Mom” scam is a typical example of this.

2. Wrong number -screams

The cheater suggests that he has called or sent a message to the wrong number, but begins a friendly conversation trying to fish for personal information. The cheater may also offer attractive investment opportunities, which are, however, scams.

3. Lottery and gift scams

In the name of a well -known company, the cheater sends a message by notifying the profit or prize and calls for a link to a link that will lead to a fake site asking for personal information or a small payment to redeem the prize. All information entered on the site ends up with cheaters.

4. WhatsApp Gold scams

The cheater tries to attract the victim to a site that spreads malware by sending an invitation to update WhatsApp to a better “gold version”. There is no Whatsapp Gold, but it can be used to spread, for example, malware by which cheaters can access the victim’s phone information.

5. Technical support scams

For example, a cheater appears as a technical support for WhatsApp and asks for a confirmation code or other personal information to allow him or her to capture the victim’s account. “Technical support” may also inquire about debit card information.

6. Cryptocurrency scams

The cheater strives to create a friendly or romantic relationship with the victim and then introduce an attractive opportunity to invest money in his cryptocurrency. The scam involves money transfers to counterfeit cryptics, and it can also have features of romance scams.

7. Work offer scams

The victim is offered an easy and well -paid job in a well -known company, but payroll requires greater and larger money transfers from the victim or, for example, the disclosure of personal information.

Protect from scams

Bitdefender always calls for suspicion to view messages sent by unknown bodies. It recommends that the messages are not responded to.

Many scams are typical that the recipient is advised to act quickly. The intention is to make the victim react before this can consider the authenticity of the message.

Clicking on unknown links should also be avoided. They often lead to phishing sites, which can be very genuine.

If you suspect you have entered the cheater’s trap and fear that you have access to your bank information, please contact your bank immediately to minimize financial damage.

Do not step into the trap of the mesh. This will avoid losing your money.
