Werder fans stops fatal train accident

Tragic accident: a train on the way to Leverkusen with Werder fans collides with one person. This does not survive the clash.
A tragic incident prevented the arrival of numerous football fans to a Bundesliga game at the weekend. Around 400 followers of Werder Bremen could not travel to the away game of their team at Bayer Leverkusen as planned. According to the police, a special train collided with the Bremen supporters on board in Bassum with a person who suffered fatal injuries.
Since the railcar was damaged in the accident, the Werder fans could not continue their trip as planned. Five buses and a replacement train were requested, but the followers decided to return to Bremen.
Werder had originally expected the master and cup winner with the support of around 3,500 fans. Due to the incident, however, a number of places in the guest block remained empty.
