For the first time since October 2023, Neymar is again part of the Brazilian national team during the upcoming international break. Seleção coach Dorival Júnior called the 33-year-old attacker from FC Santos to the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia (March 21) and Argentina (March 26). “I’m happy to be back,” wrote Neymar on Instagram, who had previously hoped for a comeback.
“Of course, every player wants to defend his country and colors. It was always a great honor for me, I always have the maximum, I always gave 100 percent for the Brazilian national team. This is the place where I prefer. (…) If I ever get the chance to return to the Brazilian national team, I would be very happy, ”the professional who returned to his home country in January had recently said. This dream is now fulfilled after Neymar has contributed six scorers in seven competitive games at his training club since January.
The former Bundesliga professionals Joelinton (Newcastle) and Matheus Cunha (Wolverhampton) have also been nominated again for the first time since autumn 2023. For the 21 -year -old Wesley from Flamengo, the trip to the national team is in his career for the first time. In a rather disappointing World Cup qualification, Brazil is currently only fifth.
