Foxes come into play better

The starting point was clear: the foxes had to win at the leaders Veszprem to keep the chance of the direct quarter-final feed. In front of a deafening backdrop at the Hungarian top club, the guests came into play better. Three goals from Mijajlo Marsenic and parades by keeper Dejan Milosavljev provided a 3-0 lead for the outsider from Berlin. Veszprem, which the top position in group A had already secured, took 6:20 minutes for his first goal.

Then the hosts temporarily took over the game control, also because goalkeeper Rodrigo Corrales Rodal found their way into play with his parades. Veszprem was able to compensate for the first time after eight minutes (4: 4). But the foxes stopped and subsequently managed to temporarily distance the favorite with four goals – even though they were World handball player Mathias Gidsel Difficulty participating in the game aggressively. It took 26 minutes for his first goal. But with the help of a strong performance by Tim Freihofer (six goals in six attempts in the first round), the foxes offered the top club’s forehead. With a 17:16 lead for the Berliners, we went to the cabins.

Led by Lasse Andersson, the foxes remained even after the change of sides. While the home side made numerous bad passes, the guests were flawed in the attack game. Whether Lasse Andersson from the full sprint or Marsenic on the circle – the surprise now seemed tangible for the guests. When the Bundesliga club pulled away again with four goals (25:21), Veszprem coach Xavi Pascual took a break.

The foxes then had to endure a print phase of the host and accept a 0: 3 negative run after several balls of ball, the lead. The host came up to one goal – and was even able to compensate for around twenty seconds before the end of the game.

Seconds before the end of the game, Jaron Siewert took a break. And with the last attack of the game, Tim Freihofer converted his attempted throwing from left wing almost simultaneously with the final siren to the 33:32 victory.

The most successful thrower of the foxes behind Freihöfer with nine goals was the Danish Olympic champion and world champion Lasse Andersson with eight goals.
