Severe allegations
As the “Korea Times” reported on March 4, the indictment against Taeil, bourgeois Moon Tae-il, and two other possible accomplices, was raised in June 2024 for alleged sexual coercion of a drunk. At that time, the responsible police authority had called for an arrest warrant against the three suspects. However, this was rejected by the court on the grounds that they had already admitted the crime and therefore there was a lower amount of detention.
The defendants were already invited to interrogation in August of the previous year. In September 2024, the case was forwarded to the public prosecutor. The indictment followed in February 2025.
All three suspects claim that the crime was not deliberately committed, said “Korea Times”. However, Taeil, however, was the only one to appear on the police survey, according to his lawyers due to health problems. However, these were not further specified. A statement from Taeil itself is pending.
Quick consequences for Taeil
After it became known in August 2024 that the singer was involved in the alleged crime, consequences followed quickly. Taeil and his former label SM Entertainment stated to separate from each other. The label explained that “the facts of the matter”, but also that he could “no longer continue his activities with NTC”. After the contract was officially terminated a few months later, SM Entertainment wrote that “our trust in him as an artist was badly damaged”.
NCT is known to have more than 20 members and various subgroups at times. Taeil has been part of them since 2016.
