Huge success for Germany’s biathlon team at the Junior World Cup in Östersund: On Friday, the DSV cheered two medals in the mixed seasons, once silver and once gold.

It was not really round for the German team at the Biathlon Juniors WM in Östersund at first. In the first four races, the DSV team remained without a medal. On Friday, the offspring struck twice in the two mixed relays and won gold and silver.

Without a single penalty round and with only nine loading, Alma Siegismund, Lotta de Buhr, Fabian Kaskel and Linus Kesper could not be beaten in the junior mixed relay. The quartet prevailed against the team from France favored on paper (4 penalty rounds/13 afterlife) and Austria (0/10) and gave the DSV the first gold of the World Cup.

At the finish line, the German team had a lead of 16.9 seconds to the French, in which Gaetan Pataturel became the great unlucky in third position and freed the way to the DSV gold with three penalty rounds.

The German youth relay was also allowed to cheer. Lena Siegmund, Melina Gaupp, Lukas Tannheimer and Korbinian Kübler won the silver medal after a strong race and only had to give up Norway. The deficit in the finish was 25.9 seconds. Bronze went to France.

Annoying for the German quartet: Gold would have been possible here too, but overall the team made three penalty rounds and thus three more than the Norwegian team.

The World Cup in Östersund continues on Saturday and Sunday with the two sprint races in the junior and youth area. In the coming week, the mass starts and relay races will be on the program.
