The death of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa remains a mystery. Both were found lifeless on Wednesday (February 26) in their property in Santa Fe Summit. The corpses already showed signs of mummification.

For years, the Oscar winner, who had withdrawn from the film business two decades ago, and his wife completely resolved. Now Doug Lanham, a close friend and former business partner Hackmans, told “TMZ”what the couple’s life looked like recently.

Accordingly, Betsy Arakawa ensured that Hackman was properly eating in old age. She asked him to comply with a strict diet. Lanham said that the actor mostly adhered to it. Only with the golf he sometimes took a little snack.

Gene Hackman was a partner of a restaurant

Together with Lanham, Hackman headed his Jinja Bar & Bistro restaurant for a long time before leaving seven years ago. As his business partner assured, he even made a proper profit.

After all, Hackman often came to eat later. Because of his wife’s strict diet, he often only ate fish. To do this, he set up the establishment entirely with his own paintings (the actor mostly spent his Hollywood pension on painting and writing novels) and, according to his friend, often took over the bill for other customers if he was on site.

Despite his preference for a quiet lifestyle, Hackman was always ready to share Hollywood stories with his friends, according to Lanham. In addition, he remained a jokebold until the end, liked to play pranks.
