Most recently, José Mourinho negatively drew attention and behaved inappropriate in the Istanbul derby. That has consequences.
José Mourinho was besited to the Istanbul derby. Fenerbahçe Istanbul’s coach said after the 0-0 that players on the Galatasaray bank jumped around “like monkeys”. He also criticized the referees. This has now followed: The 62-year-old has to accept a tough punishment.
Mourinho was blocked for four games and finished with a fine of around 42,000 euros. The Turkish Football Association (TFF) announced on Thursday. Fenerbahçe defended his trainer and emphasized that his statements were “torn out of context”.
The TFF rated the incident differently and explained that Mourinho’s words violate “sporting ethics”. Galatasaray accused the ex-coach of AS Rome of racism and announced that he contacted UEFA and FIFA with official complaints. The club also plans to criminal proceedings against Mourinho.
