A big dream is fulfilled for him: the Braunschweig Max Brandt is allowed in a professional game in the Eintracht Stadium for the first time. Probably different than it was once.
Cellar duel in the 2nd Bundesliga: The table-16. Eintracht Braunschweig welcomes the penultimate SSV Ulm 1846 on Saturday (1 p.m.). Max Brandt, a native of Braunschweig, who will play as a professional in the Eintracht Stadium in the jersey of the guests from Baden-Württemberg.
Because the now 23 -year -old midfield strategist of the Ulmer did not spend his football youth in his hometown, but at neighboring VfL Wolfsburg. Brandt moved to FC St. Pauli in 2019 via the VfL youth teams. More than missions in the reserve did not jump out for him.
The center player finally ended up in Ulm via regional league team Teutonia Ottensen, and the team for over 23 years has risen to the 2nd Bundesliga. There he can now demonstrate his skills for the first time in a professional game in the stadium on Hamburger Strasse. “A childhood dream comes true for me on Saturday,” Brandt enthuses in an interview with the BTSV before the long -awaited appearance.
Max Brandt: As a little boy, he was a big Eintracht fan
Eintracht brought him to football in the first place, he emphasizes. There he collected his first memories of football. As a little boy, he was a big fan. “It was always a wish of mine to play in the Eintracht stadium. It was probably more of a dream to play for Eintracht in the past,” said Brandt.
Now the scenario has turned. This wish is not fulfilled not in the jersey of the Braunschweig, but in which one of the worst competitors in the relegation battle. And yet the bond with the opponent is still a special one.
His family and friends still live in the Löwenstadt. “I have not been living in Braunschweig for some time now, but as soon as we have some free time, for example during the summer break or over Christmas, I am also visiting a lot in the region,” he says. “It’s just nice to get home every time.”
The upcoming visit triggers a special tingling sensation for him. If everything runs according to plan, Brandt spits into the soup to his former heart club. With a victory of the SSV, the SSV in the Tableau past the Eintracht. And Brandt is set at the headquarters of the Ulm and already completed 21 competitive games in the current season, in which he contributed two templates.
The statements of BTSV coach Daniel Schering also give an enormous meaning for both clubs. “Due to the constellation, it has been the most important game of the season for me so far,” he said at the press conference before the game.
With a victory, the Braunschweig could settle six points from the first relegation zone. “During the winter break after seven games in the second half of the season, this may not be all expected. Let’s take the chance seriously and try to use them,” said Scherning. After the end of the first half of the season, Braunschweig still had one point less on the account than Ulm.
The Ulmers want to prevent Eintracht with all their might. To this end, the Braunschweiger wants to contribute its part in the ranks of the sparrows. “For us, it is easy to keep against it, to get our game on the pitch and then in the best case to take the three points to Ulm,” he says. But he has already won-when the ball rolls on Saturday and Brandt is allowed to participate for the first time in a second division game in the Eintracht Stadium.
