This is how a 70-year-old woman sums up her Friday’s food philosophy. Oven salmon is his choice for the table.
Iltalehti asked what Finns prefer to eat on Friday. There were 1241 responses within the time limit. The most popular Friday food is clear with an overwhelming soundtrack.
The survey provided 15 options, of which the respondent was able to choose his favorite.
8 % of respondents who responded to “something else” missed their favorite list. In the open answers, many mention was given to Nachopelti and various salads, in particular. In addition, Fish and Chips and tapas plate were mentioned.
These five foods are Finnish favorites.
1. Pizza (40 %)
The Queen of Friday dishes is clear with plenty of soundtrack: pizza it. Fresh pizza is selected by 34 percent of Finns, 6 % of frozen pizza. So some pizza is a 40 % favorite.
Pizza Friday is undoubtedly established as a starter of the general public.

2. Tortillas and Tacot (13 %)
Tortillas and tacos are the second preferred Friday. 13 percent will delicious on Friday with TexMex food.

3. Warm breads (7 %)

Seven percent of respondents prefer a delicacy that is easy to tune in with different fillings. Usually, for example, ham, tuna or minced meat are loaded over toast. The bread is frosted with cheese.
4. Sushi (7 %)
Sushi, slightly fresher food favorite, ranks fourth in the side with warm breads. It only got one sound less, so in practice it is a draw.
In 2022, Iltalehti said that salmon is by far the most popular Sushi raw material.
5. Steak (4 %)
The fifth most popular Friday food is steak. The survey does not specify what kind of steak is most in mind for respondents.
Whether it is a pepper steak, a leaf steak or even a tournedos, a good steak is a more luxurious dose for the weekend starter.
Only a few noises were given to baking salmon and hamburgers.

The most popular delicacies
At the end of a long week, it is nice to pamper yourself by treating yourself. Iltalehti also asked Finns’ favorite delicacies on Friday.
25 % of respondents preferably have chips. 20 % tastes best for candy, 17 % chocolate. Ice cream is a favorite for 13 %.
A sweet or salty delicacy clearly drops into the majority shopping cart, as only 10 % of respondents said they would not have a treat on Fridays.
Important or not?
In open answers, Friday’s importance as a culinary experience shared respondents. While Friday night’s food is a welcome pleasure for many, many also said they wanted to get as easy on Friday. For some Saturday is an official delicacy day.
For example, this is how Friday’s importance was told:
“On Fridays, I want to make some good food myself, because on other weekdays I do not always have time and I can cook myself after work, but I eat either meal or just bread,” says a 53-year-old woman.
“Everyday vegetarian food. For me, Friday doesn’t mean anything special, a day among others, ”says a 61-year-old woman.
“On Friday, you have to get as easy as possible in the food. At least not at home to get tired, ”says a 61-year-old man.
