FC Bayern is booming. The German record champion broke the 400,000 members. President Herbert Hainer announced at the anniversary celebration of the Munich -based company on the occasion of the 125th club birthday in front of around 650 invited guests. “We will have a membership to run like never before,” said Hainer at Paulaner Nockherberg. “FC Bayern stands for sporting success, economic reason and social commitment,” said Hainer. “The club is obvious, it depends on people.”

On the club side of the Bundesliga club, the mark of 400,000 members is celebrated as a worldwide premiere of a sports club. In fact, Benfica Lisbon came to Munich. On Wednesday evening, the Portuguese record champion announced the same brand Before the 1-0 win in the cup against SC Braga-and therefore only a few hours ahead of Bavaria.

While Bavaria and Benfica have a head-to-head race at the top, the lead over the pursuers is quite great. In places three and four, the Argentine traditional club duo River Plate (351,847) and Boca Juniors (323,586), which, unlike many European associations, not only inform about the number of members, is a good distance.

With the CA Independiente (146,570), another team from Argentina made it into the top 10. Basically, however, no nation has as many clubs with high number of members as Germany. Borussia Dortmund (218,493), Schalke 04 (190,400) and Eintracht Frankfurt (150,000) are also represented in the list. Since the announcement of the numbers in these cases is already a bit ago – but all during this season – the actual numbers could even be a little further up. With the 1. FC Köln (140,000), VfB Stuttgart (120,000), Hamburger SV (110,000) and Borussia Mönchengladbach (101,982), four other German clubs also have a six -digit number of members.
