Johannes Høsflot Klæbo already has nine World Cup medals and now wants to continue to increase his collection in Trondheim. The chances for this are good for the Norwegian cross-country star. The Norwegian national team doctor, Ove Feragen, said NRK that Valnes’ back pain was acute. At “Nordic Mag” he stated: “Erik had pain in the lower back during training.” Valnes is replaced by Ansgar Evensen.
Team doctor Feragen remained optimistic: “We have realistic hope that we will get it under control within a few days.” This season, Valnes was the greatest competitor of title candidate Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, who has so far been able to win all seven sprints that he contested.
