In April last year, the then Flemish Minister for Health Hilde Crevits decided to close the center. Since then, the guidance team of the municipality has searched for new housing options for the residents. Of the original 46 residents, 14 are left, including some new residents.
“I can’t help but order the closure, although I absolutely don’t want us to have to put people on the street,” says Mayor Vandenberghe. “We have established that Serving You continues the operation, even though this was no longer permitted.”
