The men immediately know what they are taking on when they walk into the gas station on the Dokweg in IJmuiden: the money in cashiered. The incident took place in the night of 1 February around 2:30 am.

There are many images of the robbers: first the man with a firearm that flies into the store from the gas station, then the man who stays in the doorway with a machete.

‘Fierce to experience’

The employee behind the counter, which stands behind a glass wall, notes the duo and flees directly to the warehouse. She locks herself there. The robbers notice that they no longer have a chance and leave, without loot.

“It was very intense for the staff to experience this in the middle of the night. The shock is very good at it,” says a police spokesperson in the NH agency.

Firearm and machete

The first young man has a normal build and average height. He walks into the store with a balaclava. He wears a dark coat of the Under Armor brand and has light pants on, dark shoes and wears dark gloves. He focuses a firearm on the woman behind the counter.

The second young man is quite thin and long and has also covered his face with a mask. He wears a dark jacket with hood and has dark clothing on: dark pants, dark shoes with white sole, dark gloves, has a backpack on and a machete in his hand.

The help of Victim Support is always offered in these types of robberies, since the impact on victims can be enormous. Roy Heerkens of Victim Support Netherlands said this before in our program:
