“I have been busy for two months making those trees disappear and nothing happens at all,” a woman shouts from the other side of the street. Until January 17, the municipality collected trees, but one stack remained until today. On the western islands, residents walk past it every day: more than ten Christmas trees have become brown and dry.

“We made it for weeks. It was funny at first, but in the meantime Christmas is really over and the fun is gone,” says a man who lives in the same street. Every time residents call the municipality, they are told that it is being worked on. But in practice it turns out to be different.

Fire and rats

There are also residents who have less trouble with it: “I think it looks funny, those trees are not doing much wrong now, right?” But according to two frustrated, that is not the problem: people can put it on fire and because garbage is being thrown in, rats often come to it.

“In March there is really no excuse to think of,” said the woman. After AT5 has spoken to the municipality, it appears that the trees were not collected because the part of the center is difficult to reach and only one type of car fits through the street. For two months the residents heard nothing, but within two hours after AT5 called the stack was neatly taken.
