Schonach (dpa) – The outstanding Nordic combined Gyda Westvold Hansen was unable to continue her series at the World Cup in Schonach due to a fall.
The 19-year-old Norwegian could not stand a dream jump of 104.5 meters in the morning and received large deductions in the posture grades. Westvold Hansen could not use her good starting position because of the long jump because she did not start the following run over five kilometers after the fall. That ended Westvold Hansen’s streak, which had previously won all six World Cups this winter.
Instead, victory in the Black Forest went to the Japanese Anju Nakamura, who prevailed over her teammate Haruka Kasai and the Italian Annika Sieff. The best German was Jenny Nowak, who finished sixth and thus confirmed her position after ski jumping. “I’m satisfied with the race. I’ll try to jump a few meters further tomorrow so I can fight at the front,” said Nowak. Maria Gerboth also made it into the top ten in seventh place. The last World Cup race is on the program on Sunday.
