The future of Joshua Kimmich at Bayern is still open. Now Max Eberl has once again commented on the negotiations.
At Bayern Munich, not only the question of the health of national team captain Joshua Kimmich is open, but also his sporting future. “We have moved into clear positions and now you have to see if you can get it into a contract. I can’t force a thing. I can only say that we would like it,” said sports director Max Eberl after 4: 0 (1 : 0) in the top game of the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt.
“We would like to see him one of the faces of FC Bayern in the future, but he has to decide,” said Eberl. Kimmich, whose contract expires at the end of the season, had been replaced on Sunday evening shortly before the break.
A week and a half before the German round of 16 in the Champions League, those responsible gave at least easy all -clear in the health of the midfield leader. “The first news is that it is not that bad,” said coach Vincent Kompany. After another examination, there could be more information in the course of Monday.
After Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies and Manuel Neuer have already extended their contracts, Kimmich should now follow according to the Bayern bosses. The most important thing is that Kimmich comes back quickly, said President Herbert Hainer. “Everything else will develop like Davies and Musiala too.”
As with Kimmich, Leroy Sané’s contract expires at the end of the season. “I think that Leroy played very well today, both offensive and defensive,” said Eberl. “He did a very good job. We know what we have in Leroy.”
In addition to Kimmich and Sané, the contracts by veteran Thomas Müller, goalkeeper Sven Ulreich and defender Eric dier are only dated until June 30 of this year.
When asked about Dier, Eberl held back with commitments. “If I extend all the contracts and get three more players, I don’t know if the savings can still work,” said Eberl.
