Hannover 96 wants to climb, but recently lost the front table positions from the sight. Against Paderborn it looked like it could change again.
Hannover 96 in the 2nd league had to share the points four times after the other. On Saturday evening it looked like it was finally working again with a win. But that was not the case against SC Paderborn – it was 1: 1 with the final whistle.
Marcel Halstenberg brought Hanover in the lead early (4th), Adriano Grimaldi ensured late (90th). As a table, 96 is now four points behind the relegation place. Coach André Breitenreiter continues to wait for his first home win with Hanover. He had replaced Stefan Leitl (now Hertha BSC) during the winter break.
Hanover got a perfect start and took the lead in the fourth minute through Marcel Halstenberg. Six minutes later, the ex-international was Pech that a free kick just clapped on the crossbar.
After that, Paderborn became stronger and had opportunities to equalize. Hanover did justice to his reputation as the best defensive in the league and seemed to bring the narrow lead over time.
But then Joker Adriano Grimaldi struck a minute before the end and gave Paderborn a deserved point. In the last minute of stoppage time, Hanover Jannik Dehm also saw yellow-red. Paderborn has shortened the distance to the relegation place to one point with the 1-1 1: 1.
