Hamburger SV can also win games without Merlin Polzin – especially if the team has a dazzling Davie Selke. The Hanseatic trainer was flat on Friday evening (February 21, 2025) with a flu. His assistant coach Loïc Favé took over and coached the team for victory – also thanks to two goals of the outstanding attacker.
With the highly deserved 3: 0 (1: 0) in the top game against 1.FC Kaiserslautern, HSV placed at least overnight at the top of the table of the 2nd Bundesliga.

Selke with some chances

Punch missing
The starting team, on the other hand, relied on a quick switching game, but the Palatures were not really able to get the HSV defense into trouble.

After 42 minutes, Selke then redeemed himself and the HSV fans. The attacker skillfully accepted a high template by William Mikelbrencis with his chest and pushed past Krahl to 1-0 over the goal line.
Two minutes later, Lautern’s Erik Wekesser should have achieved the equalization. From five meters, however, the outdoor car player missed the empty gate completely unexpectedly.

The HSV tried to resolve at the beginning, Selke also hit the Lauterer Gate again (52nd), but was very offside. But the Hanseates stayed on, kept the pace up and did not let the guests come into play.
Who else was able to score the second goal that evening. Ludovit Reis “stuck” perfectly to the attacker who still let his opponent get out and converted from eight meters to 2-0 (65th).

Baldé increases the result
