Johannes Thingnes Bö has won another medal alongside Team colleague Ragnhild Femsteinevik at the Biathlon World Championship – but not the hoped -for gold. They could have entered the Norwegians, if it weren’t for the many relegates, his brother Tarjei Bö knows.
The Norwegian duo Johannes Thingnes Bö and Ragnhild Femstonevik was by far the fastest on Thursday. The fact that the silver medal “only” jumped out in the mixed relay and the French were able to look forward to gold and quentin Fillon-Millet about gold was primarily due to the poor performance of the Scandinavians at the shooting range.
The Norwegians needed 15 reliefs, seven of them fell on record world champion Bö. For comparison: the victorious French needed their seven, the third -placed Franziska Preuss and Justus Strelow even four. Even in the last standing stop, three of the five slices did not want to fall at first, so Fillon-Millet and Strelow pulled away.
In the end, Böch rushed past the German on the final round, but only 5.7 seconds were also missing on the French.
Bö “a little mad at himself”
His brother Tarjei Bö, who pursued the race with his teammates on the route in Lenzerheide, knows that it may have been too much that the 31-year-old lacked the 23rd World Cup gold of his career.
“I think Johannes was a bit angry with himself because of the additional recordings,” he said after the race at the broadcaster “NRK” with a view to the many relegated loaders: “It could have been gold, but France was almost the whole race In the lead.
Johannes Thingnes Bö also preferred to look at the winning of the silver medal than the missed gold chance. Rather, he praised the Norwegian wax team: “The good skis are back. It was a fantastic feeling.”
After the rest day on Friday, the final medal decisions are made in Switzerland at the weekend.
