Central defender Nikola Soldo and 1.FC Köln go prematurely after around two and a half years. As the second division leader announced, the expiring contract with the 24-year-old was mutually resolved. “Nikola came to us with the request to resolve his contract in order to continue his career. Despite his situation, he behaved in an exemplary manner, so we made this possible. We wish Nikola all the best, ”said Thomas Kessler, head of professional football at FC.
The son of VfB legend Zvonimir Soldo, born in Stuttgart, changed to Cologne in 2022 for 500,000 euros from NK Lokomotiva Zagreb. Since then, the former Croatian U21 international has only stood eleven times for the professionals and three times for the reserve on the field. In 2023/24, Soldo was awarded to the 1. FC Kaiserslautern, for which he contested 17 missions. This season he did not even belong to the squad of coach Gerhard Struber.
