Jannik Sinner accepted a three -month doping lock. This applies until May 4th. This was announced by the world anti-doping agency.

The most tennis world list Jannik Sinner is blocked for around three months due to a violation of the anti-doping regulations. The Italian had agreed to an agreement and should not take part in tournaments by May 4, said the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The website also means that four days of the lock are already counted, which “the athlete previously served during a preliminary lock”.

The 23-year-old can start training again on April 13th. Sinner can then take part in the cheeky open again. These start on May 24th and thus just under three weeks after the doping lock has expired. He will also be able to be there at the preparation tournament in Rome.

Sinner had been tested twice for close -ups in March 2024. The responsible ITIA accepted Sinner’s argument that the steroid has been unintentionally into his body during treatment by his physiotherapist. The Wada had taken the decision and wanted to achieve a lock of one to two years.

The case would have been negotiated in April in front of the International Sports Court of CAS. According to the ANSA news agency, Sinner said: “I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and I believe that the strict wada rules are important for the sport I love. On this basis, I have accepted the WADA offer , to regulate this procedure based on a three -month sanction. “

The case had become public in August of last year and also caused outrage. Some experts and ex-professionals criticized that anti-doping offenses had been kept secret for so long and that Sinner got away without preliminary lock. The South Tyrolean won the US Open in autumn of last year and last defended his title at the Australian Open in January with a clear final victory over the German Alexander Zverev.
