The police first traveled by train between Emmen and Zwolle. Three agents are on the line to guarantee safety and to prevent nuisance. It is a temporary test.
The test is a response to a series of incidents in which asylum seekers would be involved. This mainly concerned aggression and black riders on the train. In other cases it concerned illegal possession of weapons or theft. Travelers and Arriva employees had to deal with this.
A call from JA21 in the Lower House to arrange extra security received a majority in the room. The cabinet then promised to set up special police unit. No new agents were employed for that.
A conductor on duty announced that he was happy with the police on the train. He said that employees now feel a lot safer.
