Reza R. (41) has to go to prison for five years because he stabbed his wife three times in September with a potato peeler. The court in Den Bosch ruled that. At the time, the couple got a fight in their house in Eindhoven that got completely out of hand.
At the substantive session two weeks ago it became clear how it went so horribly wrong on 10 September last year in their house on Bethanieststraat in Eindhoven. The two wanted to divorce and had a constant fight about it.
At one point the man hit the woman with his full fist. After that it was quiet for a while, but shortly after, Reza grabbed a shell in the kitchen and put it in on his wife.
She sustained three deep wounds in her upper arm and back. They were six to seven centimeters deep, the public prosecutor told. “And it was not thanks to Mr. that no vital organs were hit.” In the panic and chaos that could have happened easily, he thought.
‘Blood on the back mama’
The three young children (5 to 11 years old) witnessed the fight and the final stabbing. They jumped on Reza to prevent him from killing their mother. “Dad grabbed a knife and made blood on Mama’s back,” the five -year -old girl told the police.
Reza R. left but reported to the police after wandering through the city for hours. He has been stuck since then. The public prosecutor thought there was an attempt at femicide, deliberately killing a woman because she is a woman.
Contact ban
In addition to the imprisonment, the man is not allowed to contact his wife for five years and he is not allowed to come to Eindhoven. He also has to pay her a compensation of 15,000 euros.
