The complex of the oldest football club in Amsterdam has been completely renewed in recent years, but the traditions were kept. “We cherish all those things that have gone along,” says general manager Joost van Dolen in the TV broadcast of NH Sport.

Van Dolen spends many hours a week on and around the clubhouse. Of course he understands that with the demolition of the old clubhouse, the changing rooms and the stands there has changed a lot in recent years at his 130 -year -old association. “But we are proud of the new clubhouse and are busy getting the atmosphere we had here too.”

Just like in the old days, the carillon is hanging outside and hangs on the outside wall the familiar plate with the text ‘The jewelry of a house are the friends who are there’.

We speak former chairman Machiel van der Woude at the monument that the AFC members remember who died or killed during the Second World War. “If you read the stories of these people, that is terrible,” says Van der Woude, who used the chairman’s hammer for more than ten years at the beginning of this century.
