First coaching station abroad

After the end of the 1st FC Kaiserslautern more than a year ago, Dirk Schuster found a new club. The 57-year-old takes over the coaching position at the Georgian runner-up Torpedo Kutaisi, in which he signed a three-year contract. For Schuster it is the first stop abroad.
“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge. The club has been extremely trying for us for months, which was impressive. This creates a totally exciting project with experienced professionals and aspiring talents. We really feel like it, ”said Schuster, who is accompanied by his long -time assistant Sascha Franz, the commitment in conversation with the“Picture“.
Schuster follows the Scotsman Steve Kean, who was switched to the post of sports director in January. The best-known names in the squad of Torpedo Kutaisi, which will take part in the Conference League qualification, are ex-Liverpool Mamadou Sakho (34), the former Hoffenheim Felipe Pires (29) and 16 times Norwegian international Bjørn Johnsen (33). With the Mohamed Cherif (24) born near Hamburg, a German professional is also in the contingent.
