As Dr. Martens released its Metallica collaboration in January, fans of the iconic shoe brand and heavy metal band alike went crazy… and spent some of their money in the process. The demand was so enormous that the models were sold out almost immediately.
Thanks to overwhelming interest from loyal fans, the company has now restocked its Metallica 1461 shoes for $180. Currently available in all sizes – but probably not for long – this special edition of one of Dr. Martens exclusive graphics by the artist Pushead, a themed collector’s box and the proven, robust and comfortable workmanship that Dr. Martens has made an icon for decades.
The first drop earned rave five-star reviews, with shoppers praising everything from the shoes to the band themselves. “Metallica kicks ass,” one reviewer wrote. And he’s not wrong: Metallica has generated more than 18 billion streams on Spotify and won nine Grammy Awards over the course of his impressive career.
The cooperation seems like a natural connection because both Metallica and Dr. Martens have always been linked to counterculture aesthetics. The band and brand became a cultural phenomenon in the eighties and nineties – and their influence remains unbroken decades later.

Aside from the Metallica edition, Dr. Martens still has other versions of the 1461. Originally introduced in 1961, the silhouette remains one of the brand’s most popular styles and is available in everything from classic brown leather to crisp burgundy hues. The 1461 is at the core of the Dr. Martens ethos and has been worn by generations of musicians, actors and some of Hollywood’s most famous faces.
And speaking of musicians: Dr. Martens is also no stranger to co-ops with artists. In addition to Metallica, the brand has collaborated with the Sex Pistols and Black Sabbath, among others.
Grab the Metallica 1461 Dr. Martens restock now while pairs are still available – before your chances of wearing them go Fade to Black.
