At the Olympic Games, IMANE KHELIF celebrated the greatest success of her career. However, it will not participate in the World Cup.
The Algerian boxer Imane Khelif must not take part in this year’s boxing world championship of women. The World Association IBA announced this at a press conference.
IBA General Secretary Chris Roberts said: “Imane Khelif cannot take part in our championships because she does not meet the admission criteria.” The technical regulations are clear in this regard.
According to the association announcement, Khelif “did not pass an unspecified test”, which was necessary for participation. This test should apparently confirm that the Algerian fulfills the prerequisites for the Women’s World Cup. The tournament (March 8th to 16th) takes place without it.
As early as 2023, Khelif was disqualified by the IBA, which led to criticism from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Since the IBA is no longer recognized by the IOC, Khelif was still able to play at the Olympic Games in Paris. She won gold there because her passport shows her as a woman. There were discussions about their biological gender before and during the games.
