The vice -president and CEO of Monza said no to Viola, who wanted the French midfielder. When the club of his life called, however … “to the devil I could not say no”
There was a moment, in the negotiation between Milan and Monza for Warren Bondo, in which Adriano Galliani heard a voice within himself. Giorgio Furlani had just called him, on the late afternoon of the last day of the market, telling him: “Dammi Bondo”. Better: “My predecessor, give me Bondo”. Because Galliani and Furlani often, jokingly, are called: “my predecessor”, “my successor”. Here you need a step back.
The NO to Fiorentina
–
Galliani has always considered Bondo a strong player, a player to ask for 20 million and, perhaps, to accept 15. Not by chance, Monza in this market window had rejected an approach from Fiorentina, probably born from Palladino’s estimate, which would be Back to pleasure to train Warren. However, Milan six hours after the end of the market understood that Ismael Bennacer, broken with Conceiçao after replacement in the derby, would go to Marseille. And, almost at the same time, he chose Bondo as an ideal substitute.

Inter, Juve and Atalanta
–
At that point, Furlani called Galliani and Galliani, in front of a request from Milan, enlarged his arms. “At Milan you can’t say no,” he said more or less openly. Deal made for 10 million plus 2 of bonuses, with Bondo very happy to go to play San Siro. Galliani’s choice in part is the daughter of the affection for the team of his life, what he was CEO, Vicar vice president and soul. In part, it arises from its consideration of the role of Monza, which cannot compete with the great clubs and has one of the reasons for existing in the formation of the players. In a few years Monza has contributed to forming Carlos Augustus, Di Gregorio, Maldini and Bondo, bought by Inter, Juve, Atalanta and Milan, the four teams playing the Champions League. Galliani of this is certainly proud.
All at San Siro
–
The last scene of this story is in the future, it still has to be fulfilled. Fast ahead, Wednesday evening. Milan will play against Roma in the Italian Cup and Warren Bondo will be Milan for the first time in its new stadium, in San Siro where all Milan’s greats played. Adriano Galliani, as always, will be on his favorite sofa: in the stands to cheer.
