On the second day of the kiss process around Luis Rubiales, the focus is on the measures taken by the communication department.

Spain national coach Luis de la Fuente has rejected any knowledge of possible attempts to cover up the Spanish Football Association (RFEF) in connection with the kiss scandal about ex-association chief Luis Rubiales. On the second day of the trial before the National Court of Justice near Madrid, the European championship coach emphasized that he had not participated in any crisis meeting of the association after the WM final of women in Australia in 2023.

According to his own statements, de la Fuente knew nothing about a press release that is said to have been written in the name of world champion Jennifer Hermoso to smooth the waves of outrage. In addition, he “not” spoke to the association’s press officer and only found out about the developments during his journey home. De la Fuente had risen to the national coach during the tenure of rubyers.

On Tuesday, the measures of the RFEF communication department were the focus of the negotiation. The former communication director of the association, Pablo Garcia Cuervo, defended his role in writing the declaration. He said in court that he had created the text based on an interview with Hermoso and obtained their consent. At the same time, he denied that he had asked the player to perform in a joint video with rubyers when the scandal in Spain spread further.

Hermoso had confirmed her allegations against rubyers at the start of the trial on Monday. The former leader of the association, who is supposed to testify on February 12, continues to defend itself with the presentation that it was a “harmless kiss among celebrating friends”. The public prosecutor calls for a total of two and a half years for the 47-year-old for sexual assault and coercion.

The charge of coercion is based on the accusation that Rubiales had urged Hermino to agree to his version of an amicable kiss. In addition to him, three other men have to answer in court. The process is expected to run until February 19.
