Star – Nadal: “I worry about my foot every day”

Indian Wells (AP) – Record Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal will have foot problems for the rest of his career.

“It’s not true that I don’t worry about my foot anymore. I worry about my foot every day because I have an injury that I can’t repair,” said the 35-year-old Spaniard. “The foot will never be at 100 percent again.”

Since winning the Australian Open, Nadal has been the tennis pro with the most major successes in tennis history. He has 21 triumphs in the four most important tournaments, one more than Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Nadal is also undefeated this year and has won all 15 matches.

“I have to find the right balance between competing and the moments when it’s better for me to stop. If I can find a way to play my calendar, then I really can’t ask for more. That’s my goal,” said Nadal.

At the first Masters of the year he is seeded number four and after a bye in the first round he meets either the American Sebastian Korda or the qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis from Greece.
