The municipality of Tynaarlo is going to buy café Onder de Linden in Vries. The manager of the catering establishment will stop at the beginning of next year and has no successor yet.
The municipality wants to prevent the café in Vries from disappearing. The acquisition must ensure that the hospitality industry “or a similar social function” remains in the building.
Current owner Sietse Hamersma has indicated that he will no longer take place behind the tap when he retires early 2026. After the absence of a successor, Hamersma herself contacted alderman Jurryt Vellinga. To his satisfaction, the municipality thought along with a solution.
Vellinga: “The quality of life in Vries is under pressure, especially because of all the changes in the retail trade and hospitality. We did not want the last café of Vries to disappear in this beautiful place. Because of this purchase we prevent that. Moreover, we are busy With the plans for the center, this fits nicely. “
The purchase is final if the city council agrees. A mood is expected to follow somewhere in March.
