Man died after falling in the water in Ghent: “I heard shouts and then a splash”

On the Graslei in Ghent a man was taken out of the Leie on Thursday. It was a young lady who had heard the man fall into the Leie, on which she herself stepped into the water to get him out. The man had to be resuscitated on the spot, but died a day later in the hospital. The police are investigating the facts.
