Hamburger SV made the loan of Adedire Mebude from KVC Westerlo perfect until the end of the season. The 20-year-old traveled to Hamburg on Tuesday to coordinate the last details and complete his medical check on Tuesday. As Westerlo confirmed, the HSV Mebude can bind to itself in summer by buying.
“With the loan of Adedire Mebude, we can replace the core competencies in this position, and we also see great development potential in it,” said Hamburg’s sports director Stefan Kuntz. Director Sport Claus Costa added: “With its explosiveness and speed as well as his strengths in the switching game and his depth runs, ADEDIRE is a player who can help us in many game phases and ideally complements our other wing profiles.”
Mebude was trained by Manchester City in the youth and achieved strong scorer numbers during this time. In 71 games he came up with 64 goal participations for the U18 and the U21. In 2023 there was a change to the men’s area in Westerlo, which paid EUR 1.75 million for the 1.89 meter tall right wing. In his first season 2023/24, he only came to six short missions in Belgium and at his rental station in Bristol.
After his return to Westerlo in summer, things went better at the beginning of the season, but his operational time decreased in the course of the season. The Scottish winger was no longer in the squad in the last two games. In total, he has 19 missions in 2024/25 (two goals and templates). Now the loan to the 2nd Bundesliga should help him to play more.
