Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen celebrated his third victory in the Alpine Ski World Cup under extreme conditions. In the exciting night giant slalom on the Planai in Schladming, the 23-year-old ultimately won superior in front of his compatriot Henrik Kristoffersen (+0.39 seconds). “It was such a crazy race,” said Steen Olsen in the BR. For the “Vikings” in front of 15,000 spectators in the last giant slalom in front of the World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm (4th to 16th February) it was the sixth victory this season.

In the fight with a stubborn fog, persistent rain and snowfall and thus a very soft, highly shortened slope, World Cup dominator Marco Odermatt from Switzerland improved from twelfth to third place (+0.60). The Swiss Loic Meillard, who went to the final as the leading man, missed the podium by 0.01 seconds.

The DEL game between ERC Ingolstadt and the Eisbären Berlin does not take place as planned. The reason is the severely deteriorated state of health of national player Tobias Eder. Read more about this here.

Skir racing driver Alexis Pinturault suffered a break in the right knee in his fall in Kitzbühel and will no longer come back to the World Cup this winter. Investigations in France showed a fracture of the shin -oned plateaus and a meniscus injury. According to the association, the 33-year-old has to suspend around six weeks before he can start rehabilitation measures in March. The season ends in the last week of March with the World Cup final in Sun Valley in the USA.

“Difficult to understand, analyze, accept …”, wrote the former World Cup overall winner on social media. “I now need time to see things more clearly …”. It was initially unclear whether this could mean that the veteran and family man ends his career.

Former and current racing colleagues such as Felix Neureuther, Josef Ferstl, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Lindsey Vonn commented the post with encouraging words.

Felix Neureuther greeted Laura Dahlmeier in his podcast. He couldn’t help but be a funny side blow. Read more about this here.

The German ski jumper around Pius Paschke had to accept another sporting defeat at the World Cup in Zakopane, Poland. Routinier Paschke, who already won five individual competitions this winter, left the 32nd even in the first round and did not score World Cup points.

The best German was Karl Geiger in eighth, behind it, Andreas Wellinger (11th) and Philipp Raimund (21st) made it into the second round. The day before, the Quartet Geiger, Raimund, Paschke and Wellinger did not get out of fourth place in team jumping.

The Austrians, who were victorious in the team, were again not to be defeated in singles. Tour winner Daniel Tschofenig caught the leading Anže Lanišek (Slovenia) and won after jumping at 136 and 139.5 meters. Johann André Forfang (Norway) and Jan Hörl from Austria also landed on the podium behind him. Lanišek finished fourth in the second jump after a mistake.
