U-turn at Radamel Falcao: The 38-year-old remains player from Millonarios FC for at least another six months. In addition, renewed extension is possible in the event of a championship. Previously, for weeks, a solution for another commitment by El Tigre had been wrapped in vain.
The background was the Colombian tax system, especially the net wealth tax due after six months. According to the association, a few days ago, attempts were made to increase Falcao’s salary as far as to compensate for the losses through the tax, but this was not successful. The club therefore already said goodbye to the striker and thanked him for “making the dream of everyone true”. According to media reports, several sponsors now helped at the deal.
Falcao was trained by River Plate in Argentina in the youth and made the leap to the professionals there. At the age of 23 he moved to Europe to FC Porto, followed by stations at top clubs such as Atlético Madrid, as Monaco, Man United or Chelsea. With his transfers, a total of 103 million euros were paid. Colombia’s record goal scorer scored five times for the club from Bogotá in 16 missions.
