Advice: reprimand Baudet for not registering additional positions | Politics

Forum for Democracy leader Thierry Baudet may receive a ‘reprimand’ for not registering his additional functions.

The Integrity Investigation Board makes this recommendation to the House of Representatives after a complaint was filed against Baudet.

The Commission concludes that Baudet has violated rule 3 of the Code of Conduct. The council recommends that the House of Representatives impose the following sanctions on Baudet. First, an instruction to have both ancillary positions registered in the ancillary activities register of the House of Representatives and, furthermore, to reprimand him for failing to register ancillary positions. The House of Representatives will have to decide on this.

Baudet has not yet responded to the two letters from the College. He also did not answer the College’s questions. The most severe sanction is a one-month suspension. In that case, a person concerned may not participate in debates.

alarm bells

An inventory of this site earlier this week shows that MPs are increasingly uncomfortable with pro-Russian politicians such as Forum for Democracy leader Thierry Baudet. A member of parliament who does not want to be named, says: “It has absolute top priority to keep Forum for Democracy away from consultations in which sensitive information that affects Russia is shared. The PVV has the benefit of the doubt.”

VVD MP Ruben Brekelmans shares the concern, according to him ‘all alarm bells are going off’ for giving confidential information to Forum for Democracy. Party leader Thierry Baudet shocked the House with his pro-Russian attitude, even after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
