FC Bayern is in danger of missing out on direct qualification for the round of 16 in the Champions League. For Joshua Kimmich one thing is clear after the 3-0 defeat at Feyenoord: Munich are currently not a top team in the premier class.

The Champions League table doesn’t lie, said Joshua Kimmich on Wednesday evening – and in the said table, FC Bayern is only 15th after seven of eight match days.

The Munich team will meet next Wednesday (9 p.m. in the live ticker sport.de) still on Slovan Bratislava. A home win is a must, and the Bundesliga club still needs plenty of support.

FC Bayern “not mature and ripped off enough”

“We have to admit that we are not a top team in Europe at the moment. We are too far away, too fragile, not mature and ripped off enough. We are still missing a little something,” stated Kimmich.

80 percent possession of the ball and a shot ratio of 30:8 were not enough for FC Bayern in Rotterdam to take anything worth counting. Instead, Feyenoord punished Munich’s susceptibility to counterattacks coldly and ultimately won clearly 3-0.

“We’re definitely leaving too much behind. When I see how many great chances we have and how easy we make it for the opponent to score goals. That was very, very bad. We didn’t pass the test,” criticized Kimmich.

FC Bayern without fear of the playoffs

FC Bayern had previously also lost at Aston Villa (0:1) and FC Barcelona (1:4) in the current Champions League season. In contrast, there are four wins in the premier class. After all: participation in the playoffs is certain. Direct participation in the round of 16 is no longer in your own hands.

“We have no fear of the playoffs. If we have to go in, so be it,” said head coach Vincent Kompany after the latest setback in Rotterdam.
