A guitar legend John Sykes has died at the age of 65. Among other things, the news covered the matter BBC and Variety.

– It is with sadness that we announce that John Sykes has died after a hard battle with cancer, the article states.

– Many will remember him as a man who had an exceptional musical gift. But for the information of those who did not know him personally, he was a considerate, kind and charismatic man whose presence lifted the atmosphere, the announcement said.

According to the obituary, in his final days, Sykes spoke of his love and gratitude for his fans who stuck by his side all these years.

Born in England, Sykes grew up in Spain, and learned to play the guitar as a teenager. The guitarist’s career began in the band Streetfighter, from which he later moved to the band Tygers of Pan Tang.

Sykes is best known for the band Whitesnake, which he joined in 1984. Sykes wrote for the band, among other things, the well-known songs Still Of The Night and Is This Love.

After leaving Whitesnake, Sykes released two albums with his band Blue Murder. In addition, he has performed in the band Thin Lizzy, among others. According to Variety, Sykes was working on his solo career in the last years of his life.
