The Wilfried Kanga chapter is finally over for Hertha BSC. On Monday evening, the Berliners confirmed the termination of the 26-year-old striker’s loan to Cardiff City and his permanent transfer to Croatian record champions GNK Dinamo Zagreb.
The Croatian newspaper “24sata“ had recently reported a transfer fee of 1.7 million euros excluding bonuses for Kanga. Hertha had previously received a loan fee of 500,000 euros from Cardiff. The Berliners themselves paid 5 million euros to the BSC Young Boys in the summer of 2022. Kanga only scored two goals in 23 games for the Old Lady.
“The first half of the season in Cardiff didn’t go as hoped for him, but at the same time another opportunity has now arisen. Together we were able to find a solution that was satisfactory for all parties. We wish Willy all the best for the future,” said Hertha’s sporting director Benjamin Weber. At Dinamo Zagreb, Kanga is now supposed to replace the injured Bruno Petkovic (30).
